So, what's the difference between me compiling a servlet and the system
copmiling JSP? Well, obviously I do less work but JSPs are still compiled
and when they change, they are compiled.
---------
Among other things, I don't have to have a Java compiler on my desktop to make
changes to the JSP. Just a text editor, or the web tool of my choice. I
really don't have to know any Java, other than the syntax of calling a method,
to use JSP. I change the JSP and "compile it" by hitting refresh on my
browser. To change a servlet, I have to know how to extend a class, what the
doGet and doPost methods do, how to output to the browser, and so on.

Are you really saying that editing a JSP and changing a servlet are the same
thing? Because if you are then I am doing a very poor job of explaining the
concepts involved. JSPs require nearly zero Java knowledge. Servlets require
a lot of Java knowledge, starting at how to edit and compile a Java application.
