This is the not the best way to phrase the question.  Both are general
purpose
programming languages, so eventually, at least in theory, both can be made
to do anything.   I've seen enough to know this is by-and-large true in
fact as well.  To a large degree, both can "poach" on each other's natural
territory, albeit with more work in many cases for one over the other.

The useful question is:  What are the natural places to use these
languages?
