If someone else is paying for your development tools and money is of no concern, then Ultradev & VA/Java Enterprise Edition are excellent choices. At home, I do not have an extra several thousand dollars to spare. There is nothing wrong with WebSphere Studio. If you haven't tried it, you should. After all is was built to be a companion to VA/Java and WebSphere. Good HTML solution... doesn't syntax check java code, however. A nice feature is the extensions manager; you can download extensions to Ultradev that prompt for properties (for beans, for example). For java servlets, applets, and beans, Visual Age is my choice. It focuses you on design and development, not on structure and syntax. Isn't that what an IDE is supposed to do? dan -----Original Message----- From: Joe Teff [mailto:JoeTeff@earthlink.net] Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 5:03 PM To: JAVA400-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: jsp editors I've used Websphere Studio a little and liked what I saw. It's for JSP. You can use other editors for the java code if you wish, but VAJ is recommended (by IBM). It's also built to publish to WebSphere. Bleddyn from the ignite400 list published an article on Studio (see www.ignite400.org ).
