- Download Java standard edition from http://java.sun.com/j2se/ (choose
download on the left and follow the prompts).
- Install it by running it (follow the installation instructions on the
download page)
- After you install it, change these environment variables (PATH, CLASSPATH
and JAVA_HOME).
JAVA_HOME should be the directory you chose to install the jdk. For example
JAVA_HOME=c:\jdk13
PATH should have JAVA_HOME\bin added to it like this PATH=%JAVA_HOME%
\bin;other;gork;
CLASSPATH should be the base of your source and classes directory plus any
jar files, classpath has the same format as path (semi colon seperated
names.) example CLASSPATH=c:\src;c:\whatever\services.jar;
- put the class myprogram in the directory mypackage somewhere in your
classpath. i.e. since c:\src is in you classpath, you would put myprogram
.class in c:\src\mypackage. Otherwise, to compile, put myprogram.java in c:
\src\mypackage, then cd to c:\src\mypackage and do javac myprogram.java to
compile it.
- Then (again since c:\src) is in your classpath, use java
mypackage.myprogram to run mypackage.myprogram
