Memo field on the AS/400

let me try this again.....

Is there a way to set up a "memo" field on the AS/400?  My background is RPG
and DDS, so variable length records are somewhat of strange concept on the
400. :-)  What I'm looking for is a way to create an area in a file where I
can put a block of text the user types in from a web site and maybe even
store a GIF as part of a database.
