i found this code on the web and it worked. You pass method decimalFormat a pattern (in this case 00000). then make a new string with format and the value. DecimalFormat myFormatter = new DecimalFormat("00000"); // Pattern String wslo = myFormatter.format(SCREG); // Value System.out.println(SCREG + " " + "00000" + " " + wslo); // Debug 189 results in 00189 Thanks Michael P.
