Jace, Thank you. It's not easy getting used to this Object Oriented Java when you are accustomed to doing structured RPG and COBOL. I think it would have been easier if I hadn't had the RPG/COBOL first. Would you recommend any books, etc, that are specific to Java on the AS/400. I have the Java for RPG programmers book, but it explains Java in relation to RPGIV. I am taking a class on that now and some of the Java stuff is falling into place, but I haven't found anything that specifically takes you step by step (baby steps please) through creating, compiling, debugging, and running a Java program on the AS/400. Does anyone else have this problem? I can write simple Java programs on the PC, but then what??? Exactly how is the CLASSPATH set on the 400? Can you look somewhere to see how it is set up on your 400? Where? Thanks for your help Susan Susan, This message is just a information/warning message. It is telling you that you have a potential security hole by allowing *PUBLIC write authority on your JAR file. This would allow someone to potentially put a class file with the same name in your JAR file. If this "BAD" class file were placed ahead of the class file that you really wanted, the "BAD" class file would be used. It is just letting you know you might want to change the authority on the JAR file, the choice is yours.
