I think I see a couple of minor problems in your command line...  

The first is with your -classpath parameter.  Under the QSH the
classpath elements are separated by colons, instead of semicolons as on
Windows.  (This reflects the QSH's UN*X heritage.)  

The second is the order of arguments -- I believe that the name(s) of
the file(s) to compile has to be last thing on the command line.   

Try this: 

        javac -classpath .:./mail.jar:./activation.jar larrymail.java
