This hasn't helped - I was using *PCASCII, which is the same as 819 I believe.
The error returned is

#
javac conroc00/Customer.java
conroc00/Customer.java:46: Identifier expected.
   public static void main(java.lang.String[] args) {
                                            _
1 error
#

(This doesn't demonstrate it well, but the error is under the ']' character.
I've had this problem before, and I got round it by copying a notepad file to
the IFS. However, it's still bugging me, and has had implications on a
colleague's work with netdata, so I'd like to resolve this if I could.

Yes this has to do with CCSIDs. On your cpytostmf, specify code page 819.

Subject: CPYTOSTMF

Hi,

I'm using SEU to enter java source (not recommended, I know, but stay with
me
...) The CCSID of my source pf is 37, and when I do a CPYTOSTMF with
*PCASCII,
and run javac in Qshell, it fails to recognise ']' as a valid character
from my
source. Does this have anything to do with CCSID's, and if so, what should
the
value be?

Cheers,

Chris.
