  • Subject: DataSource Object in Visual Age
  • From: enord@xxxxxxxxxxxx

I have a question pertaining to DataSource Obects in EJBs. We are in the
process of converting from SanFrancisco to WebSphere. We are using Visual Age
for Java 3.0 to help accomplish this task. We are using container managed EJBs.

There is a generated class called EJSJDBCPersisterXXXXXXXBean (where the Xs are
the name of your bean) it has the method initialize. This methods signature is:
public void initialize(com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.stdext.javax.sql.DataSource param1,
java.lang.String param2, java.lang.String param3, java.lang.String param4)
throws com.ibm.ejs.persistence.EJSPersistenceException {}

Here is my question. I would like to do a JDBC query within my EJB. I
understand how to create my own DataSource objects to perform this action.
Since their is already a DataSource object related to this EJB, I was hoping
their was a way I could get a reference to this object instead of creating a
completely new DataSource Object.

All the help possible would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
