I've fought to get an official answer to this for the better part of a year.  
Finally, I pinned some folks down while at JavaOne, and got my answer... NO.  
You cannot currently do Java SP's, and probably won't be able to until the next 
major rev.  They are appearantly working on it.  Since JavaOne, I have received 
a few e-mails from some of the developers at IBM.
