Thanks in advance, I feel bad that I don't know the answer to this. We are using JDK1.1.6 and would like to use JDK 1.2. The problem is JBuilder. We are using ver. 2.01. IF we go to JDK 1.2 can we still utilize this version of JBuilder? Is there a debugging tool in JDK1.2? Is ther a free debugging tool? Is there a cheaper IDE for Java, JBuilder is about $800 per seat. I might need to be asking more or better questions. Feel Free to Add. Thanks again ----------- Well, as far as I know, V4R4 of the operating system includes Visual Age for Java for free. VAJava is my current IDE of choice; I'm a big fan of repository-based programming. Not only that, VAJava has some nice features like automatic creation of getter and setter routines for fields (very important for JavaBean development). As far as JDK1.2 goes: I have currently standardized on JDK1.1.8 with Swing1.1.1 for my development environment. This provides the benefits of Swing for GUI development along with compatibility with the AS/400 for non-GUI things (JDK1.1.8 is binary compatible with JDK1.1.6/JDK1.1.7, which is where the AS/400 JVM is today).
