IBM's AS/400 toolbox for JAVA -- JAVA400-L

I am thinkig about using IBM toolbox for JAVA to make some client
applications using whatever the toolbox supports...  I am first time using
the toolbox.  Do you guys have any tip/opnion/suggestions on what to be
careful, what you liked etc.?  

Another question is that how can I access the toolbox functionalities from
Visual Basic? I heard of middleware bridge frome some companies.  Does
anyone know if those bridge works well?
