Re: XML...

The XML I'm generating encounters the ampersand character & errors out
at the ampersand. I'll add the CDATA wrapper to the parser...

Depends on what you are trying to do.  What characters are you trying to
escape and why?

One way... <element><![CDATA[This is character data that is not
parsed]]></element>

Another way... <element>&lt;element2&gt;some
data&lt;/element2&gt;</element>
