Understood, however I've had just the opposite experience with Windows.
Windows usually runs fast and reliably even in VMs. Actually Windows 7
so far even looks good in terms of performance improvements.
One last comment on VM's. If you're testing new copies of technology,
just create a clean VM and use Snapshots because you can undo, redo
points in time. Now that's cool stuff !!
I don't know how I would get testing new technology done without VM's in
today's world :-)

Yes I use Windows when I have no option Richard - WDSC/RDi being one
of those cases. But the VM is never as good/fast as the native OS so
I try to keep everything native if I can.
One of the big problems I always had with windows was the slow down
and decrease in reliability as more and more stuff cluttered up the
registry. The few things I have running in Windows work quite well
right now so I don't want to mess it up.
