I want to download EGL CE but, I have a couple of questions. If I download the "full install" version which says it includes Eclipse, what else do I need to download? I assume I need to download a database of my choice. Do I need to also need to download the Java SDK, and an App Sever (Apache Tomcat)?

"EGL Derangement Syndrome"

OK, *that* statement made my day!

I downloaded EGL-CE and it installed without a hitch. Playing with it
at the moment but want to do something more substantial and sustained
with it. I have a BHJP (Big Honkin Java Project) that I am desperately
trying to bring to closure and as soon as it is down to high maintenance
mode, I'll crank something out and blog about it myself.

I had not considered David's suggestion to try installing just the plug
in in Eclipse 3.4 in Linux. Might try it though, just to say I did.

I was hoping it would run on the Mac or Linux but sadly it is Windows

I'm with you. A Java application that requires Windows! Why bother?

Honestly, kids, EGL has been pushed off into its own room. If your only
reason to walk in the room is to crap on the carpet, why not do us all a
favor and not bother? You guys crack me up.

On the other hand, for the folks who don't have EGL Derangement Syndrome
I'll be happy to give you some updates when I get a moment. As it is,
I've just finished blogging about a completely Java-free Rich UI
application environment. Using only EGL Rich UI, RPG and the Apache
server on the i, I can create complete multi-tier applications.
