Depending on your version of Sametime and whether or not you have the WC
option installed on the machine you may find that those steps have already
been done. Did you check the meetingserver.ini to see if you even need
to make any changes?
Otherwise, I have followed that document in the past without any negative
side effects.

I am about to follow the recommendations from IBM in the link below.
I am using my community server for chat, presence checking, and whatever
our WAS based Sametime servers need it for.
All my meetings are WAS based now and not the community server based
types.
