Exchanging digitally signed and encrypted email

I want to exchange digitally signed and encrypted email with people.
I got a key from Symantec and put that into a test account into Notes.
From that test account I sent off a message to a yahoo account. Does
yahoo not have an indicator that the email is digitally signed?

Basically, once I have this certificate in my account, how do I start
exchanging signed and/or encrypted email with someone outside of my
company? Someone not using Notes.
