Before that decision is made, I recommend moving to current versions of
Domino and Notes. And the standard client instead of the basic client. It
may kill that decision. It stopped the whining of a few vocal people who
came here from Exchange shops. "Smart Upgrade" helped us roll out our
upgrades. Wasn't exactly painless but it went quite well. Sure helped
cut down on a lot of manual labor. Yes, we did upgrade a bunch of PC's.
But it was time. We added some views to the names.nsf to process the very
bottom of the administration tab of each person document. Like
"By Client", answers which user is running which version
"By Client - highest release only" thins above down to only that user's
highest release, not every release they ever ran. Restated, I can get a
list of all users still running 8.5.2FP1. 8.5.2 with no fix pack is the
oldest we have. Well, actually we gave an IBMer remote access via VPN to
do Domino tuning recently - he's still only running 8.5.1FP5.
"By PC", shows me all pc's, what version of notes that pc has ever ran and
who ran that release
