So it can handle stuff like console.log and whatnot, online?

The BRMS Domino online backup is rather simple (that includes all
files). I think of it as effectively two steps within my process: 1.)
Domino files 2.) Directory structure and other files. BRMS handles this
very nicely. If you are going to shut down the servers anyway you can
avoid dealing with the online backup but it really is a simple process.
We will be clustering sometime later this year and I'll have the same
decision to make. I was assuming a continuation of the online backup
process but haven't thought much about any other functions or processes
that we might do in conjunction with this.

The other files can be backed up online too.
Thanks,
Chris

backup for Domino within BRMS we would have to back up some of that
outside of online. And if we have to drop the servers anyway, why
complicate it with online?

Not sure what you're asking. With BRMS you can backup the nsf's and
ntf's using the online backup options and then specify other groups of
backups for standard IFS objects or any other iSeries data.lpars.

We are undertaking two things:
1 - Moving our backup from our "primary" lpars to our "secondary"
2 - Installing BRMS.audit
On one of our primary lpars we have these domino servers: NOTES01,
GDDATA, GDSSALES, etc. One of our backup lpars will have these
domino
servers: NOTES02, GDDATA2, GDSSALES2, etc. They are clustered. We
nightly for databases on one but not on the other.
We looked at Online backup of Domino using BRMS. One of it's caveats
is that it only backs up databases and templates. I am figuring, toand
heck with it. We have a complete cluster, why not just bring down
the domino servers on the backup machine and have brms back it up
when it's down
forego the online stuff?_______________________________________________
