Happened to stumble upon a small file (363GB) that I am going to clean up.
You might want to see if you turned this on in your system at some time.

Stopping the debug files in ScanMail for Domino (SMD) 3.0
Solution:
Follow these steps:
1. Open the notes.ini file.
2. Look for the "SMDEMDEBUG=1" parameter.
If the parameter exists, do the following:
1. Shut down the Domino.
2. Open the notes.ini file again and delete the "SMDEMDEBUG=1"
parameter.
3. Save and close the file.
4. Delete the smdext.dbg file.
5. Start the Domino.
