Sorry for the cross post but this does have to do with both.
Effectively, we had some 3rd party programs that we placed in
/QIBM/PRODDATA/JAVA400/EXT. Mostly because this is where the 'default'
path shown in most examples plus this gave us 'universal' availability
by some sort of default.

Placing those programs in that directory may have caused a problem with
another third party product and it's Java programs. I say may because
in trying to work with the last set of programs and getting them to work
with the Domino application I also placed those files in the
/QIBM/PRODDATA/JAVA400/JDK14 directory. I hate to admit that move but
it was based on something I would never normally follow....programmer
advice.

The 3rd party with the failing programs came back and stated that they
could not have ANY other java programers other than those supplied by
IBM.....

I'm waiting for a more detailed explanation on that but in the interim I
can move those culprit programs to another directory and modify the
javaclasspath for Domino to include that directory.

I was wondering what others were doing with their .../java400/ext
directories and how they should be treated.
