That won't work with iNotes, as well as maintaining a LOT of people's
notes.ini files so I kind of ruled that out .......

Re: Directory Assistance / exhaustive check problem

Have you tried the pre-directory assistance solution, adding the
additional address book to the names= line of the notes.ini file ? That
may treat address lookup differently than DA...

Directory Assistance / exhaustive check problem

I'm having a problem and might be heading in the wrong direction (mostly a

circle right now!) --- but ......

Have an address list which needs to be shared among almost 20% of my users

--- who are on 6.5, 7.0, iNotes clients ----- so I added it to directory
assistance to share the address book.

I "thought" I could control the access to the sharing by putting an ACL on

the database and have no access to the database to any other user --- but
that does not work --- if users have "Exhaustively check all address
books" search on their location preferences for Recipient Lookup, it still

searches the database (even though they don't have authority to it). If
the users choose that address book to look up an email address - then it
gives them a "no authority" message (which is correct).

I have even removed the servers from the ACL to stop the "auto lookup" ---

no luck. Exhaustive lookup is off on the server's router document as
well.

Any ideas???
