"Cannot write to log file: Unable to open log file"
NOTES01 is logging this message to it's console.  It has not logged 
anything to log.nsf since the last reboot of Domino.

A little drastic but perhaps I should try?

I am hoping that a backup issue has not left that file locked and a reboot 
of all of i5/os is in order.

According to iNav only the SERVER job from QNOTES has a lock on it.  And 
it also claims the change time is quite current.
