Ouch!!!

FWIW, I upgraded from TM 2.6 to 3.0 a few weeks ago (on R7) and Upgrading
Trend caused Trend to fail!

Even though TM documentation talked me through an 'upgrade' it was not a
pretty process.

I installed Scanmail 3.0 and then I installed the Patch 1 product for 3.0.
After completing the installation program (which indicated that the
installation of the patch was successful), upon restarting my Domino
Server I noticed that the data in the configuration panel was incorrect.
The build was wrong, and the pattern file numbers didn't look quite right.
Pupdate didn't work anymore (which I now know no longer is used) and
SMDREAL could not load, and my domino log file had a statement informing
me that an extension manager in notes.ini was missing and that scan mail
needed to be reinstalled!

After calling TM support I was instructed that I had to now un-install 3.0
and manually un-install the remaining 2.6 components (via more badly
composed documentation) before I could properly re-install 3.0.

I gave them h3ll for their documentation stating that I could do an
upgrade when they told me on the phone that I actually had to uninstall
and then do a fresh install of 3.0.

Once 3.0 was up and running the next day the pattern from h3ll (973)
kicked in which meant another support call to clear up that mess.

Since all of the above has been resolved SM 3.0 appears to be stable.

Regards, Jerry
