Yeah, those menu options are about the same... sorry!

I've never seen that restarting Notes fixes it. But the whole unread 
architecture is tied to the client maintaining an unread table. You can 
also reset the New Mail Sequence Numbers in the client Notes.ini file. 
Comment out or delete the following lines and the system will update them 
the next time you start Notes.

NewMailSeqNum=34686
NewMailSeqNum85256D69:0046D2E3=34686
