Is POP3 port open? When you get a Blackberry you also get access to a Blackberry Web Account. You can have this check for mail at your pop account and send to the BB. Alternatively, like you said, you can have mail forwarding set up, but that can be a pain. As far as iNotes - yeah right! It's barely working with Non-IE browsers, much less the BB browser. Check out also http://mail-e-on-air.com (I think). They have a notes db that links to the user's mail file. It works really well.
