Correction, I think the issue is with repeating items......you can delete
them it just takes extra steps and you have to select them properly.....

In your calendar (I'm using 6.5.3 client) their should be a meeting
tab/view that will list your meetings in chronological order. You should
be able to select the documents and delete them from there. The gotcha is
that you can only delete one calendar entry at one time.....

You could copy the calendar view and change the type from "Calendar" to
"Standard". But do watch you don't delete any base docs for repeating
entries.

Isn't there some nice view showing calendar entries sorted by date that I
can select what I want that way?
