We have the following:
270-23F1: Runs two iSeries LPAR's
LPAR0: Runs one Domino partition
LPAR1: Runs Linux, no Domino
840-23EA: Runs three iSeries LPAR's
LPAR0: Controlling partition, no Domino
LPAR1: Runs 11 Domino partitions
LPAR2: Runs 1 Domino partition
820-24AA: Runs three Domino partitions
270-2452: Runs one Domino partition and that's for http://www.dekko.com
270-2454: Runs several Domino partitions. Basically a 'cluster' backup
for each of the Domino partitions on the 840, LPAR1

As far as that separate ip address goes, it's true. There used to be
another way, but you don't want to go that route. The term to search for
is 'bind specific'.

Not that hard, have fun.
