Best way to have extra web users without having them in your address book
is to setup directory assistance, and the create a "LUG" address book.
Look at the admin help; it only takes about 5 mintues to do. Put all of
your LUG users in this secondary address book. The only thing to keep in
mind is that if you start using groups for ACL's, the groups must exist in
the primary directory. Groups don't work in a secondary address book.

A little more detail? Are the people you want to permit currently in the
NAB? By default, an unidentified person that access a database via a
browser is "Anonymous". If you only want to allow users in the NAB in,
just create an entry in the ACL that sets an Anonymous user to "No
Access",
this will call the authentication. I then use a group in the server NAB
and list the people that I want to allow in. Then just add this group to
the ACL and give necessary permission's.

Does this help at all or am I just telling you stuff you already know? : -

If I want to restrict access to a database (only used via a browser) to
people how do I go about doing it?

One big goal, since we are hosting this for our LUG is to not use any
entries in our NAB if we have to pay for them.

Revert to Prior Version of Template?

Having a weird problem -

Originally, when I upgraded to Release 6, my notes file was based on the
inotes 5 template. I upgraded to R6 (standard not inotes template).
Occasionally, the system would 'magically' revert my file to inotes 5
template - I upgraded the file, compacted it, ran fixup against it - to no
avail - it would still revert probably once a week to inotes 5 --

I converted 10 other people within the agency to R6 --- nobody but me was
having this problem.

Last weeked, I applied CF1 to the server and all the others. One of the
10
after application of CF1 reverted back to inotes 5 template. I
re-upgraded
that desktop to R6 and it worked - until yesterday when it reverted to
inotes 5.

Server is on a notes network between 3 machines - our main unit is R6, the
other 2 are R5 - they are not clustered.

Anybody have any suggestions?????

We did it by running convert on the server -

I don't have that in my ini file at all.

My server is up 24X7 ---- only gets shut down once a week for an IPL

When you upgraded your mail file, was that File, Database, Replace Design,
or, File, Database, Refresh Design?

If it was simply Refresh, then you'll get in trouble from whatever server
runs Design last to refresh the design of the database. See
ServerTasksAt1 in your notes.ini. We found out that the reason that this
only occurred on occasion was that the server was often down at 1am.
