Scott,

Thank you.

So the C api's are staying and the HiTest API's are disappearing? Thanks
for clearing that up.

I do have the QNOTESAPI library, and the H source file. So I could look
at that.

Great links, (at initial glance anyway). Now I have to decide which way
to go: Sticking with API's or pursuing the Java situation.

Rob,

>From what I understand the RNHLib (HITest API) stuff is going away. This
was the C APIs wrapped so that they could be used in RPG. There are third
parties doing the "wrapping" now, so I think IBM decided to spend their
time elsewhere. This you have found out. The C APIs will continue, so you
can use them. There are examples out there of RPG IV calling C APIs
(sorry
non-Notes) so you don't really need to use the wrappers. You just have to
find the proper email apis and figure out the interface for RPG. Check
out
the "H" member in library QNOTESAPI (at least it is on my iSeries). You
may have to install some Notes options if they did not get installed.
Another option is to use Java/Corba. Can't the latest and greatest version
of RPG IV call Java now?.?. Another option would be to create a Notes DB
that watches an iSeries file thru the Connectors and fires off an email
when a record is added to the file. Without the wrappers there will be
some work involved. Check out some of the links below.

Currently we have 5 AS/400's or iSeries. All of them have Domino loaded
and running. We know how to use QtmmSendMail and various wrappers for it.
However, we want to send mail directly via Domino from other iSeries
native applications. Apparently on some of our iSeries we do not allow
native SMTP and only allow Domino. We know how to turn that on but the
powers that be won't allow it.

I hear that the HiTest api's are deprecated and will be phased out.
Staying at an older version of Domino and holding my breath until I pass
out or Lotus fixes this is not an option. We like to stay current.

Some people have suggested purchasing some additional software to give you
some nifty call to their software. It's been my experience that all of
these packages use the deprecated API's.
