I'll begin by describing the sort of problem I am dealing with. I have written a web agent in LotusScript that pulls data (via ODBC) from a file in our AS/400 server. One of the fields in the table that it pulls that data from is a field for a user's login name for Domino (their short name). I would like to be able to retrieve the full name from names.nsf for any given user's shortname that is stored in that database. Based on the Designer help, @DbLookup requires that, in order to retrieve a column value from a row, the search key must be compared against the first sorted column in the view. However, there are no views in names.nsf that have the shortname as the first sorted column. Is there an easier/other way to retreive a user's fullname from names.nsf based on their short name? If not, would it hurt anything in names.nsf, or in Domino in general, if I were to create a new view myself within names.nsf to accomplish this? Thanks in advance, Brian A.
