We have two AS/400's (actually we have several, but just think about these two for now). We are thinking of combining them into one super machine to reduce costs. Leased. Jumping to the P50 tier is already in the budget. GDIHQ - 9406-730-2C6E - P40 - 3590E GDIMAIL - 9406-830-23D1 - P30 - 3590E and LTO GDIMAIL runs two applications: Domino and Tivoli PC backup. Domino Server GDSHELP - help desk, etc NOTES01 - Primary mail, some databases. Between 800-900 users GDDATA - bulk of non email data QUALITY - All of our quality data - quite extensive. LEISERVE - Strictly LEI, formerly known as Notes Pump. GDSSALES - Sales databases *HTTPSETUP INTERNOTES - Internet mail DOMFAX01 - Fax for Domino for iSeries 4.4 Very limited number of AS/400 user id's. GDIHQ runs BPCS for 13 separate legal companies, many with multiple divisions. It also processes payroll and accounting for all these companies. Lots of user id's. Boss doesn't skimp on performance on any of our boxes. Final would be GDIHQ moving to an 8xx box. This is supposed to provide a better throughput for email. The negative ramifications is that SNDDST, SNDEMAIL and other commands of that genre no longer work. This would be unacceptable on GDIHQ. Options: See if the 100% native is still that much better. Who cares? Convert to mixed mode anyways. Partition. Maintain the status quo - keep two AS/400's. Buy enough machine that negates any performance impact. Replace commands of the email genre to use Domino API's.
