In the few times we've tried reading flat files with agents on our Domino/400
setup, we've yet to get the i/o working on a directory removed from the server
root directory easily.

Also, we've had to do the agents in Java, as LotusScript won't seem to do the
EBCIDC conversion.

I know there are ways you COULD do it in script, using other tools ( like LEI,
Client Access, etc.), but it just seemed like too much effort for the simple i/o
we wanted to do. You could also use the JTOpen toolkit ( IBM ), and use Java to
read from a subdirectory to the server, -we never tried this in production for
the same reason.

A simple Java Notes agent though, accessing a file in the server root directory,
could do the job without too much effort.

Regards,

Mike

Subject: AS/400 DOMINO Agent Accessing a Flat File

Domino 5.0.4 running on the AS/400.
AS/400 V4R5

I need to open a flat file in a Domino Agent. The flat file is in the
AS/400 IFS in a directory under the Domino Server Data Library. I cannot
get the agent to be able to open the file. I have referred to the fiel
with the complete path from the IFS Root
(/LOTUS/Domino/server/dir/file.txt) , I have referred to the file relative
to the Server Data Directory (/dir/file.txt).

Any ideas out there !?
