There are two methods of configuring Domino on the 400 using the
SMTP. One is to let the 400 keep control of the SMTP. The other
is to let Domino control the SMTP. If you let the 400 control the
SMTP then you can still use SNDDST and the like. If you let Domino
control the SMTP you will lose SNDDST and the like, however Domino
SMTP traffic will get a very significant performance boost.
This is an R5 issue. We are still on 4.6 and therefore have to have
the 400 control of SMTP. I do not know the details of exactly how
you set this up.

Subject: SNDDST - Question

We have some home-grown apps that use the Command SNDDST (at this time) to an
external Lotus Notes server and another Computer that will send a page to a
telephone. We send error messages to this pager E-Mail and to Lotus Notes.
We intend to put Domino/Lotus notes on the AS/400, the installation literature
suggests that only One or the other will control the SMTP server.
All we would want to do is continue with the current Results, I do not need to
use SNDDST, so my question is this. How can I have access to Lotus Notes on my
AS/400 in combination with RPGLE or CLPLE? Or do I even need Lotus Notes in
control of the SMTP mail, since we never receive any SMTP mail, only send. We
are on V4R3
