My current client (a multinational pharmaceutical company) has an office in
Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The company office is located (and connected) to a large shopping mall.
When employees travel from the USA to that office, they have armed guards
who escort them from their hotel (which is also located and connected to the
shopping mall) to the office and back every day.

You should have located the plant somewhere besides Juarez. :-))
My brother-in-law is an electrical contractor who frequently does work for
Honeywell. When he was brought to Juarez to work on their plant there, he
and his crew would commute back and forth to El Paso, since they were not
allowed to bring their guns into Mexico.
Heady stuff for a guy from Lake County Illinois. The funny part was that
plant never got up to full production, so Honeywell shut it down, and he was
hired again to remove everything he had installed a few years earlier.
Except, of course, the stuff that had already grown legs.

You know, if you weren't serious about wanting the contract job, why ask
if they provide an escort?
I wouldn't mind a little after hours work and I sure don't want to
discourage people from posting opportunities to this list.
We have a plant in a city closer down Paul's way where we do meet up and
drive in a convoy before going to the plant it's so bad.
