>Here are some questions we could contemplate: > - Is business starting to pick up now after the Y2K hiatus for anything other >than web related consulting? Companies are looking for hires, but not too much contract/consultant work. I don't see as much direct e-work on the AS/400 as I do providing access to the AS/400 data/programs for an other-platform web sever (like NT). > - Have any of you had direct hands on experience with V4R5, yet? How rapidly >would you advise your clients to consider installing it? I'm a software person, not a hardware person, so I'm waiting for V5R1 in the Spring. > - What about PASE? It seem fully functional now with the V4R5 >implementation; >any thoughts on how/if to leverage it? People are just starting to really use RPG/IV, so PASE is a little "out there". > - Are consultants truly so bashful that they can't start threads of >discussion? Not really too many consulting issues to deal with other than the market woes. > - IBM claimed they were going to kick off a new X-Treme ad campaign for the >400, has anyone seen signs of it yet? I'm not holding my breath until this happens. ------------------ I have learned Java and passed the Sun Java 2 Programmer Certification. I also attended a WebSphere seminar in Rochester. Not too much going on there either (at least on the AS/400). You have to move to the UNIX world to find Java work it seems. Joe Teff
