Prompting commands offline would be tough: Which version of OS/400 are you prompting the command for? Is this an OS/400 command, or is this a user written command? And the list goes on and on... I suppose they could cache commands like they do files, but often when you want a prompt it is because you are using a command that you don't already have in the program. So why should development bust hump to develop the caching for that? Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I thought at least part of the reason for CODE/400 (actually I am using WDSc) is to move development off of the iSeries. Why should I have to tie up an interactive session and continually switch back and forth? It doesn't make any sense and sure doesn't sound very efficient. I'm looking for the CL GUI prompting option you mentioned Vern but I haven't been able to find it yet. If I understand you correctly, I need to start the CODE editor without a source member. Because I choose the editor when opening a source member from WDSc it always contains a source member. I guess I need to figure out how to start CODE outside of WDSc. Oh - but pretty is better, right? <g> Vern At 03:02 PM 3/26/2003 -0500, you wrote: > >My frustration stems from trying to prompt CL commands. > >When I press F4 I receive the message 'You must have > >a STRCODE server running in an interactive job to > >run the command.
