When Extras -> "Column-sensitive editing" is check marked and editing
free-format RPG ILE lines, can the column-sensitive editing be temporarily
turned off like when editing comment lines?
I would like IBM to review this and let me know. Deleting and inserting
characters in a line works on comment lines when column-sensitive editing
is check marked. It just seems like it should work on free-format lines
too.
I always leave it check marked but it causes me problems whenever I reach a
free-format line. It becomes a pain to start deleting characters and only
part of the line or sometimes nothing shifts. Then I remember, oh, I need
to unmark column-sensitive editing. But, I edit a "D" spec or some other
column-sensitive line and then I have to remember to check mark the
column-sensitive editing.
I am just starting to use free-format RPG for the first time and I have
noticed this already. I am using free-format RPG because it just makes
sense in this case to see huge EVAL statements on a few lines. Of course,
other people who are not used to free-format probably won't be maintaining
it anyway.
I really like the Actions -> "Convert all to C free form".
Any help you have in this problem/request on column-sensitive editing
free-format lines would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig Strong
