Hi Jim, While it is true that Distributed Debugger is somewhat slower then the interactive source debugger, there are a couple of things that could speed up the performance. I even believe that debugger help has a chapter on 'performance considerations' :-) In particular, any variable in the 'Monitors' pane is automatically re-evaluated on each stop (step completion). Obviously, it takes a bit more time to evaluate an entire array then an individual array element. As a matter of fact, we are working on some performance enhancements and are hoping to have them ready soon. I have tried to use the distributed debugger, but the response time when stepping thru the program was slow. I had to go back to the interactive source debugger to get a fast enough throughput. Using Win 2000 Pro (service pack 2) with V4R5 on the AS/400 and V5R1 (Service pack 4) on the laptop. 256 meg of memory, local TCP/IP connection. How can I speed up the debugger. I was watching some array elements, and it seemed to have to refresh the whole array every time I stepped the next insturction. BTW: I was debugging a COBOL program at the time (shouldn't make any difference). Thanks in advance.
