Chris, in addition to the very fine introduction by Rick and Booth, I'd like to add only two things: VARPG is a PC programming language. It doesn't require an iSeries at all, any more than Visual Basic or Java. However, you'll probably connect to an iSeries to talk to your databases. I personally found that the worst part of VARPG was learning about the Windows interface. By that, I mean the Windows standards like tab order, accelerator keys, menus, adapting to various video resolutions, etc. The actual programming was downright easy compared to that. --buck
