Hak Lui,

First let me say this:

I don't mind uninstalling in order to install, and double checking to ensure
the directories are deleted and the registry is correct. You can give me a
list with 20 steps. It doesn't bother me. More than anything I want a good
install. But to do that, I need to know what to save so that I don't loose
anything.

I lost the attributes for the source files I have on my PC. I didn't lose
the source - I regularly back that up plus it exists on the server, and I
don't save it under the WDT400 folder anyway. But losing the attributes is
quite an inconvenience. Could you tell me where the attributes for the
source files (i.e. for *.IRP files) are stored? The next time I do this I
**DO NOT** want to lose that information. Plus, I want to include this in
my regular backup. If this information is documented somewhere, please
point me to it. It wouldn't be the first time that information was already
available but I couldn't find it.

Uninstalling VAJ is another inconvenience. I didn't want that to happen but
by removing WDTS it went too. Is that changed under V5R1? I hope so.

To answer your question, here's what I did during the install: (Note: I
didn't take notes)

I put disk 1 in, clicked on setup.exe, and it told me there was a prior
version installed that it would uninstall first.

I went to dinner, came back, and it was still sitting there. It never
prompted for disk 2. In task mgr it said "not responding". I had already
read the FAQ page that said most problems are caused by a bad uninstall of a
prior version. So I cancelled the job, followed the steps on the page to
manually uninstall (add/remove pgms, editing the registry, etc).

Since VAJ was gone I inserted disk 5 and installed VAJ and the distributed
debugger. Then I inserted disk 1 and installed WDTS. Distributed debugger
was installed again. Is this the same distributed debugger? Did it install
it over the debugger installed with VAJ?

During the install, I got a message that it couldn't locate a file.
Something about the it couldn't find it where the environment variable said
it should be. I think it began EHN. I had to click cancel for this twice.
This was during the delete work files step.

I downloaded SP3 using the webupdate option. But it doesn't show up in
Add/Remove programs. How do I know SP3 is installed?

During the install my PCSWIN.INI file (used by CAE 5250 emulator) got
corrupted. I didn't know what was wrong with it so I called support and got
it worked out.

I was signed in as Adminstrator (W2K workstation).

Thanks,

Phil
