Hi Phil, You're when you copy or rename a file, the CODE information (which is stored in the registry) is not copied (or renamed) which is why you have problems. The way to circumvent this is to: 1) If you want to do a Get from to a specific local file, you can modify the action in the Confirm Action dialog (click on the action and hold the mouse for a moment - much like File Explorer) to look as follows: CODESRV GET server lib/file(mbr) filename.ext 2) If you want to put a file which has no CODE info, you can force this with the "Put to host with replace action". You will need to modify the action so that it looks like this: CODESRV PUT server filename.ext lib/file(mbr) (REPLACE See the following URL for the full info on CODESRV PUT/GET: http://localhost:49213/cgi-bin/vahwebx.exe/vahelp/va400/Extract/0/qcodewin/evfgs40027.htm When doing a File->New, the purpose of the Local File checkbox is to designate whether or not the file will ultimately reside locally or on an AS/400. The biggest difference you will see is that if you do NOT check Local File, then the file WILL have sequence numbers (as opposed to line numbers only), even if you save the file locally. If you plan on "putting" local files (ie files with NO sequence numbers) to the host, you should also read up on the NOTAG options for CODESRV PUT/GET. thanks, Violaine Batthish CODE/400 Project Lead batthish@ca.ibm.com IBMCA(BATTHISH) CODE/400 page: http://www.ibm.com/software/ad/varpg WDT/400 Support : http://www.ibm.com/software/ad/wdt400/update_downloads.html "Phil" <sublime78ska@yaho To: <CODE400-L@midrange.com> o.com> cc: Sent by: Subject: Another CPO question owner-code400-l@mi drange.com 07/18/2001 11:48 AM Please respond to CODE400-L If I copy a file (or rename) that is local on my pc, the properties do not change (ie "Copied from") and that can cause havoc when I do a "put to host". Is there a way to change those properties? What I do now is get it to the as/400 by doing save-as, then doing a "get from host" to update the properties. That's very time consuming. Also, when doing a File|New, what purpose does the "Local File" check box serve? Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
