Dear Dave Cheng,
I am unable to use the Physical Files which are newly created in AS/400. I
will explain you in detail.
For example there is a physical file called MASTER in a library which was
created long back and it contains data also.
I can use this file in VRPG while referencing the fields for windows and
declare the file in VPG programs also. I am able to build and run the GUI
project successfully.
Now I wanted to change the structure of the above existing file. I have
used the same DDS which was created for MASTER and added few more fields. I
have compiled and created a new file with the same name MASTER in a
different library. If I try to use this file in VRPG it gives me error.
If I compile the old DDS from the same old library into a different
library, VRPG senses the file. If I copy the same old source into a
different library and compile without any changes, the created file is not
being sensed by VRPG.
If i create a entirely new DDS for a test purpose with just 2 fields also
not being sensed by VRPG. I tried all the combinations in the case of new
DDS (like using reference fields, with key fields or without key fields
etc). But not a single file is being sensed. I can use only the existing
old Physical Files in the system. Cold you please help me out, as I am
unable to finish the project without using New files.
Thanks n regards

Purnachandra, please send me (cheng@ca.ibm.com) the DDS source of your
files and tell me which work and which do not work. I can take a look.

Subject: Reference Fields in VRPG
Hi all,
I have developed a small module in VRPG and it's working fine. While
selecting reference fields from some files in AS/400, I am getting this
error message "There are no Items that match the criteria you specified
(4705)" and not showing the list of fields. It's working fine with some
files. If I use the same file in a program I am getting compilation error
while building a project for Windows 98. If I change the file in the
program it's building the project without errors. My AS/400 version is
V4R4. I have not installed any service packs on AS/400 for VRPG.
Please help me out with your suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Purnachandra Rao.
