You are experiencing two bugs here.

One is that groups are not recognized on load of the source into the workspace.  You will find that it happens more on fast machines and particularly on Win2K that some of the post processing does not happen before the file is displayed in the GUI.  Actually the post processing is happening at the same time as the display.

The other nasty one (the crash) has to do with switching between edit and design mode.  This one is due to some wee little bit of cleanup that does not happen on the switch from design mode to edit mode...

P.S. I can almost bet $ that the next question will be when will a fix be available :-)  M

Subject:        Designer Bug

Environment
-------------
WDT/400 V4R5M1 SP1
Win 2000 Professional

Problem Summary
------------------
Designer loses track of the defined groups after making changes to the DDS
from the Source view.

Steps To Recreate
-------------------
-open display file
-create a group if none present, and add record(s) to group
-click on the group tab in the workbook to display the records
-click on the source tab
-click the icon that puts you in edit mode
-wait a couple of seconds to let the checkpoint save complete
-click the icon that returns you to designer mode

The group will no longer contain records, and the "Group Properties" dialog
box will be displayed. Selecting the records for the group again will either
return you to the designer display, or crash the program, depending upon
your luck I guess.

If you try it once and it appears to work, try it again. It seems that each
time you switch between designing a panel and editing source, the program
get's more confused.

Regards,

John Taylor
