Dear (where are my manuals) Jon,

I will attempt to answer your questions to the best of my humble knowledge.

1)  I am told that the SP1 is not really removable on it's own.  So I guess to "remove" it means to re-install the product (please note that this was not MY decision).    Would you normally see a log file or  just a list of files that may have been updated?

2)  Well, _that_ is a GOOD just for YOU  I will initiate an investigative inquiry into this (that is I'll go ask).  BTW, I notice that all I have is the quick start stuff too.

3) Sorry, that is probably "my fault"(*), my conversation with the web-dude went something like this:
Mike:      can you put this cool wonderful code on the web for our loving customers, pleeeeze?
Web dude:  sure, where are the install instructions?
Mike:      install instructions?
Web dude:  yeah, you know, the words that tell people how to install the service pack.
Mike:      it's an "exe" file won't people just download the executable and run it??
Web dude:  OK, it's not me that will receive the slings & arrows...

I always do a GREAT job -- that's what I tell my manager anyway :-)

Mike

(*) not really but that's all I'll say here ;-)

Subject:        "Problems" with WDT/400

Mike - I have installed WDT/400 and updated it with SP1 and I notice a
couple of "strangenesses" compared with V3R3M3.

1) There is no item in the Start > Programs > etc. menu for
applying/removing service packs.  I found by simple experimentation that
the exe unzips and installs itself, which is OK I guess but how am I
supposed to un-install the fix pack if it makes things worse (it does
happen you know).  Also where is the log file that records what was
installed etc?

2) I might have been able to find some of this myself but the documentation
has disappeared!!  Under the "Documentation" menu there is nothing but
Quick Tour stuff.  Where are the manuals?  Please don't tell me I have to
load each product before I can access the individual manuals!

3) Your note referred to SP1 - when I went to the web page to download it
there was a link to a separate Read Me which I read - but it didn't tell me
how to install the SP.  Also there was mention of fixes for Studio/400
which apparently I should also download and install.  It would be really
nice if you guys could make this a little simpler - or at least a little
more obvious.

This is not intended as a dig against you - you've done a great job
supporting the Code400 list recently - if only someone was servicing IBM's
_own_ support area for Code/400 now that would be nice.

Jon (where are my manuals) Paris
