RE: Using code without STRCODE server question.

Actually I figured it out myself, I created my own HOSTS table on my own PC.
To do this, I went to the C:\WINDOWS directory, opened the hosts.sam file
using notepad, added in the IP addresses and their associated domain name,
saved it as hosts.txt.  Then went into windows explorer and renamed it to
hosts.     (i.e. removed the extension).

Then I went back to where I set up the servers, and entered the domain name
that I had just put into hosts, instead of the IP address.  Now it shows
that domain name when I go to files/open.

If you check the STRCODE command you'll find there is a parameter there
that defaults to OS400.  If you are seeing OS400A and B then that suggests
that those values are being entered somehow by the way you start the server
because they are not defaulted to previous values.  Check the command you
use to start the code server - either someone has "wrapped" STRCODE in a
command that uses the OS400A name or perhaps they have changed the command
defaults.  Find the cause and you can cure it.

Somewhere in the back of my mind is the thought that the autostart server
can do this to you if you only specify an IP rather than a name - but you
said STRCODE so that can't be it.
