Both products are strong and provide good value. Code/400 is a well
thoughtout editor and with the designer piece, provides significant
benefits on DDS and screen/report development.

We have deployed several VARPG applications and I like the product. It
offers a VERY FAST learning curve and is easier than green-screen in many
areas (SUBFILES in particular). My only argument with VARPG (and always
has been) is the deployment of completed applications, especially to a
lrger number of workstations. In order for the product to be perfect, I'd
like to see either a several capability served from the AS/400 IFS or a
packaging and installation utility that allows code to be installed
handsoff. In that later case, the user would go to start the application
and VARPG would "notice" that a refresh was needed and download it
automatically.

With the GA of the Websphere Development tools/400 (WDT) offering, you
will surely be using VAJ, VARPG, CODE, Websphere for AS/400 before long.
