Hi Chuck- I do not think your message ever arrived, but is possible that it was inadvertently deleted or something.
Certainly this message came through just fine and I thank you again for your spit on answer.

I participate in the midrange e-mail lists _indirectly_ via an NNTP
server. Such messages are supposed to be copied to all participants of
a list, just as if I had sent the message as an email message addressed
to the /list/ addressee.
I am curious... Is there something particular about my prior message
that caused it to go unnoticed, or did no copy ever arrive? If the
latter, that would be something I should be reporting to David as a
defect in need of correction. If the former, then perhaps the issue was
merely some nuance, about how the message was [perhaps improperly]
threaded in your email client; e.g. as contrasted with replies that were
sent to the email address _cobol400-l at midrange.com_ instead of
replies being sent to the NewsGroup address _midrange.cobol400-l_ ?
If this message elicits no reply, then ... 8-Q
