Hi,
I was assigned to study and look for a way to improve the database
recovery time during end of day batch processing. This is to ensure we
meet the Service level agreement of system online hour. Let me explain
on the approach we are using now.
Whenever there is an abnormal-end during the EOD batch run, we will
identify the error and then restore the whole data library (consist of
*FILE, *DTAARA, *MSGQ...) from save file and then rerun the batch.
However, it is getting painful because it is now take us at least 2
hours for the restoration to complete. The timing will certainly be
prolonged because the database is growing.
Would like to ask for advice on how to improve from there.
p/s: I was wondering if journaling could help in this issue? However, I
am not familiar with IBM's journaling feature for this purpose.
Cheers.
